Once upon a time… as in fairy tales, but there is still on top of a gentle hill overlooking the province of Siena on Val di Chiana, a shining country. It's called Lucignano. Its name evokes the clear pure soft sunlight. And 'one country ecologically intact, from ancient face. The plant medieval town-planning, elliptical, is unique of its kind in Italy.
Lucignano is a quiet agricultural village. Its three thousand inhabitants produce, among other things, meat Chianina (famous for flavor and tenderness), wine, oil precious, a small nation of laborious formichine. Its people are quiet and happy. Behold, happy. It is no coincidence Lucignano is considered, for centuries, the country of love and happiness.
And 'know, why, even abroad. Why? For several centuries there, Lucignano, a tree all gold is jealously guarded in the beautiful frescoed hall and the municipal clerk. And 'two metres high and sixties and its branches shine leaves rutilanti of precious stones and colourful glazes: a masterpiece of gold,'400. According to an ancient legend, the tree of gold "good leads" as they say, those sposini still trepidi and fresh wedding ceremony to see him go and give evidence at his feet bouquet of orange flowers as hope of eternal love.

Despite its long and troubled history (it was repeatedly prey of Florence, Siena, Arezzo and perugini) Lucignano has miraculously kept intact its artistic heritage. With its narrow streets, palazzotti style Siena, the original structure throughout concentric circles, is a splendid example of medieval architecture.
See, Rocca and Cassero built by the Sienese in 1300, and the wonderful piazzettina collection and silent as a sitting room of another era, the sixteenth porch of Andrea del Pozzo, the Collegiate church built in the sixteenth century (it's full of beautiful stone altars serene and good paintings of the time); earthenware robbiane are admired in the sixteenth century church of Mercy; to see, the century church of St. Francis: It has a beautiful facade in stone and travertine and it preserves, including many paintings and sculptures trecenteschi authors of a considerable polyptych by Luke Tommé.

After a visit to monuments you can go shopping Gourmet: braciolone meat Chianina, Chianti for safe birth, pure and tasty olive oil, fresh meat or processed pig farm, wild boar meat, chickens and rabbits ruspanti of barnyard.

And finally the visit to Lucignano, all at the table. Here triumphs, of course, the Tuscan cuisine but it will surprise the amazing presence of large kitchen dishes of national and international levels. The fact is that there is the Lucignano Tavern (with adjoining small hotel) the great great cook internationally renowned Lorenzo Toto (author, inter alia, gastronomic books translated into several languages).
